Codecademy: Where Learning meets Fun

21 Aug

Learning should be fun. Finally some folks have got it right, Codecademy is combining the learning with game mechanics. Now thats guaranteed to get you up and interested in learning. Until now you would have had to resort to w3schools who the folks at w3fools would tell are not really accurate.

So Codecademy comes as a fresh breath of air. In the longer run they would have to see to it that their
courses are relevant and valid.

I am taking the course currently and even though i know what they are teaching its fun. You get points and badges when you complete lessons and on passing checkpoints. The ‘feel good’ factor will surely prompt you to persist and complete the course.

Oh the Joy of Levelling up. Jump right in!

Startup’d:Interview with @pocha of @stalkninja

02 Jun
In the third installment of the Startup’D series, we interview  Ashish Sharma,  from StalkNinja. This time,we traverse a path that we have not yet traversed; this interview is our first podcast!
StalkNinja is a platform for startups to connect to students, by posting remote internships to students. The best part of stalkninja is that it is a win win situation for both the startups and the students. The students gain the experience of working on a real world application and  the startups gain valuable addition to their code base.

PS: This has been my first podcast and we hope that you forgive some of the glaring mistakes. Ashish has been nice enough to accept my apology for that. Thank you,Ashish. We wish you all the best.!

Star.me: Spread Some Love

23 Apr

I came to know about Star.me around February via TechCrunch when Ze Frank, the founder received $500K from Andreesen Horowitz, Betaworks, Lerer Ventures, Founder Collective, Gary Vaynerchuk and Ron Conway to focus on creating novel social games. That’s quite a lot of money, at least for me.

Curious to know what it was all about, i decided to apply for a beta invite. Time passed. A little more than a month later i was happy to see an invite in my Inbox.

Star.me is a Social Network game which is at the very core of matters about appreciating people you know. Every person likes to be appreciated. This game allows users to send stars to their friends. Simple no? Read the rest of this entry »
